Nutclough (Hebden Bridge)

Nutclough Housing Co-operative

Nutclough Housing Co-operative purchased the Nutclough Tavern in December 2002.

Current residents are nine humans, two dogs, one cat and thousands of bees (all called bee). We each have a small private space.

The majority of the old pub and gardens is communal and we encourage neighbours, guests and the local community to enjoy the studio and large terraced hillside gardens.

Many of our members are performers, artists and activists so they are often away from home at weekends and over the summer.

Our evening meals are vegetarian delights and we often have guests to eat and stay.

We welcome visits from members of other co-ops. and love to share the beautiful woods on our doorstep. We encourage perspective members to participate fully in the co-op.

When a room becomes available all non-resident members are considered. We welcome contact from anyone wishing to know more.

Nutclough Housing Co-operative is a member of Radical Routes, a network of co-operatives working for social change.

  • Vacancies at Neds Housing Co-op, Nottingham

We will have a couple of rooms available at Neds Housing Co-op (Nottingham) from March so are starting the hunt for new members. If you  is interested then drop us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can send over some more information about our wonderful co-op.

  • Wild Peak has a space for rent!

We still have one space available at Wild Peak Housing Co-op on the outskirts of Belper, Derbyshire.

The co-op was set up to provide a home for those working, volunteering, or active within the environmental movement. Our current residents include 9 adults and 3 children. We're also, among other things, a base for Wild Things Ecological Education Collective. We eat communally every evening. Diet wise we're a mix of vegans, vegetarians and omnivores, but all communal space is vegan, so you'd have to be happy with that. We currently have one upstairs room in the main house available.

As we are a fairly new housing co-op with over 30 acres of land to manage you'd have to be up for having a go at on-going DIY and land management. We're all learning on the job to a degree so an enthusiastic attitude is more important than an existing skill set. We have a work weekend every other month, complete with a Saturday night social if you fancy coming to have a look & to pitch in.

If you want any info, or to arrange a visit, do get in touch!

  • Vacancies at Crabapple Community/Berrington Hall Housing Co-op

We are a thriving housing co-op of 7 adults and 3 children aiming to live as sustainably as possible in our large Georgian house and 20 acres of land.  We are seeking new members (3-4 adults & up to 3 children) to join us in managing our woodland, growing and processing fruit and vegetables, eco-renovating the house and outbuildings, running our community-supported market garden, increasing our sustainability and supporting social/environmental movements through hosting events.

We’re looking for practical/resourceful people who are able to commit at least 2 days work per week and are child-friendly.  We have several rooms available, potentially suitable for a range of different individuals, couples or families.  You don’t need capital to join – we are tenants and pay rent.  We share communal evening meals which are vegetarian/vegan.

If you are interested in exploring membership, then please get in touch and we will send you more details about the community and the opportunities available. We are holding a couple of prospective new members' weekends in January and February and we are also open to informal visits - but please contact us first before visiting.
